O Lord, You Gladly Bear My Cross
O Lord, you gladly bear my cross;

I only have to ask

for strength each day to carry on

with each and every task.
I humbly hold your cross, O Christ,

and carry it for you.

You’ve done so much for me, dear Lord;

so little I can do.
At every Eucharistic feast,

I know your presence near

in blesséd wine and sacred bread,

You cast away my fear.
You hold my heart so firmly, Lord,

forever and a day;

your lonely cross the open gate;

your agony, the way.
Christ of the ever-loving heart,

my Saviour and my friend,

I offer humble thanks and praise,

and love that knows no end. © 2001 Pat Haigh
Tune “St Peter” 86.86 AHB 158 (ii)
A Falling Star, A Shaft Of Sun
A falling star; a shaft of sun;

a spider’s web that’s freshly spun;

a rainbow arched across the sky;

a stretch of blue where wild geese fly;
the pearls of dew on early grass;

a mountain pool of icy glass;

the scent of pine tress after rain;

a field of waving sugarcane;
the healing of a broken life;

the love of Christ amongst the strife;

the Transformation Jesus brings

when he’s allowed to alter things,
are miracles that day by day

live in our hearts along the way.

When Jesus comes, all heaven sings

for all the joy his loving brings. © 2001 Pat Haigh
